Many companies suffer from 'Zombie Scrum'. They have all the meetings (Standups, Plannings, Retros), they use Jira, and they talk about Sprints. But they lack Transparency and Courage. When a developer notices a critical flaw, they stay silent out of fear. This is Zombie Scrum—it looks like Scrum from the outside, but it is dead on the inside.
2Step-by-Step Breakdown
The 3 Pillars of Empiricism. Because Scrum is empirical, it rests on three pillars: Transparency, Inspection, and Adaptation. Without all three, Scrum completely falls apart.
1. Transparency. The emergent process and work must be visible to everyone. If code is broken, everyone must know. If a deadline is missed, no one hides it. Honesty is the foundation.
2. Inspection. We must frequently inspect the Scrum artifacts and progress toward goals to detect undesirable variances. This happens in the Daily Scrum and Sprint Review.
3. Adaptation. If an inspection reveals a problem, the process or the product must be adjusted immediately. Inspection without adaptation is pointless.

Openness. The Scrum Team and stakeholders agree to be open about all the work and the challenges with performing the work.
Respect & Courage. Respect: Trusting each other to be capable, independent people. Courage: Doing the right thing, working on tough problems, and saying 'No' to unrealistic demands.
Summary. Without the Values, the Pillars collapse. Without the Pillars, Scrum is just a bunch of meetings.
